In order to increase tourist arrivals to Indonesia and to improve the image of Indonesian tourism as the last year, The Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the Republic of Indonesia takes part at MATTA FAIR 2007 Kuala Lumpur from 16 up to 18 Maret 2007 at Putra World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur - Malaysia.

Especially at this exhibition, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism together with Indonesian industries consisting of 34 hotels/resorts/spas, and 21 tour operators, 2 restaurants, 1 airline, 5 associations, 4 Government Tourism Services visit Kuala Lumpur for selling and promoting their exciting products. It is hoped through this participation could get beneficial, least possible to offer and to sell their variety products to consumers at MATTA FAIR 2007.

The Ministry’s programs of the participation are as follows:
1. Indonesian Media Briefing will be held at 14.30 – 16.00 at Enggong Room Legend Hotel on March 15th 2007, by inviting 20 journalist and travel writer .
2. Table Top for Seller Indonesia will be held at 14.00 – 18.00 at Merak & Rajawali Room Legend Hotel on March 15th 2007 by inviting 50 buyers from Malaysia.
3. Indonesian Dinner will be held at 19.00 – 21.00 at Ball Room 2 & 3 Legend Hotel on March 15th 2007 (Invitation only) highlighted by traditional dances and music from West Sumatera during the function guests who are lucky will get door prize and all guest will be given a nice souvenirs.
4. Distribution of Indonesian promotional materials at the Ministry booth.

The Ministry of Culture and Tourism has rent 12 booths (108 sqm) at different location, on Hall 3 likely no: 3169 - 3172; 3189 - 3192 next to the Malaysian Pavilion and the rest 4 booths on Hall 1 no: 1335-1338 in order to support West Sumatera Province as one of main destinations hoped could make business contact and business contracts with many buyers which participating at the said event, so please visit us !!!

We are well-aware that the total of tourist arrivals to Indonesia during 2006 almost 5 million visitors or decreased 4.1% compared to 2005 (5,002,101 visitors). The first huge share through 13 international entrance gates came through Ngurah Rai, Bali. The total of tourist arrivals through Ngurah Rai was 1,277,090 visitors or decrease 12.22% compared to 2005. The second huge share was from Sukarno-Hatta Airport, Jakarta with the total of 1,140,946 visitors or increased 3.23% compared to 2005. The third huge share was from Batam with the total of 998,580 visitors or decreased 2.25% compared to 2005.

Based on nationality in 2006 to Indonesia, mostly tourist arrivals was from Singapore 1,130,026 visitors. The second range came from Malaysia 560,061 visitors. The average of expenditure from visitor who came to Indonesia in 2006 was estimated US$ 913.09 per visit or US$ 100.48 per day, and the average of length of stay in 2006 was 9.09 days. The receipt from tourist sector in 2006 was 4,379,73 million or decreased 3.4% compared to 2005.

Total target of tourist arrivals to Indonesia in 2007 are 6 million visitors, especially for Malaysia could share 1 million visitors.

To attract more tourist arrivals to Indonesia, we are going to host PTM07 in Bali on 25-28 September 2007 at Bali International Convention Centre (BICC) – Westin Nusa Dua Hotel by inviting national and international sellers, national and international buyers and Medias as well, they are more than 1,000 companies. Beside that we also participate at many international tourism events such as ITB in Berlin, World Travel Market (WTM) in London, China International Travel Mart (CITM) in China, JATA in Japan and many more events should be participated.
